Brandan and Chris’s Wedding Invites

I don’t think I’ve ever had the chance to mention this on my blog. But I love Etsy. It has done so much for my business. Since opening my shop in 2009 it’s undergone some changes, but as my business has grown and changed Etsy has continued to give me opportunities I never had!

Brandan purchased our Ombre Wedding Invitation Suite from our shop and we worked together to create these gorgeous invites.

our home for over 2 1/2 years now and throughout this past year we’ve been doing little things to really make it feel like home. I’ve rearranged our office space 3 times (and we’re going to move things around again in the next few weeks), we bought new couches for our living room, Charlie built a storage shed in our backyard…I’ve got more projects up my sleeve but you’ll see more of that later. My main focus has been to make the house a bit more homey by adding a touch color and personality here and there. So…without further ado, here’s my wish list for July.

  1. I’ve always wanted a hammock. Ever since I was a little girl. There’s something so relaxing about the thought of laying in one. A lot of people may disagree, but one day (yes, Charlie, despite your objections) I will have a hammock in my backyard. 🙂 Here’s a pretty one from Urban Outfitters.
  2. I love this mini portable speaker from Urban Outfitters! Sleek, modern, and functional!
  3. How cute is this vase set from ShadeonShape on Etsy! Absolutely gorgeous! It would look so pretty on my bar high dining table.
  4. I have to tell you about the story behind this “bowl chair” another day. But it’s a definitely Home must-have for me! Tons of finishes and colors of this Papasan at Pier 1!
  5. How cool is this utensil organizer?! I love how it has space for my chopsticks 🙂

Setting Boundaries

As a business owner, I find it really hard to define boundaries. With working a day job, owning 2 businesses, and trying to make time for my husband, dogs, friends, and family (let alone myself) I find myself just trying to scramble and get things done when they’re absolutely necessary. But I hate doing that. The looming feeling of not having a task completed stresses me out. A lot of times I find that’s where the stress actually lies. I have a million things running through my head, I don’t write it down, it comes the time for it to be due, and I either get it down as quickly as possible or don’t do it in time. Well, that stops here.

This week I had a revelation for myself. I don’t know why it came to me sooner. I need to set boundaries – and no, not just set them in my head but write them down and take these boundaries seriously. I’ve taken the liberty of organizing my week of tasks so that I’m not running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Here’s an example of what my week looks like:
Mondays and Wednesdays are operations days for things like staff meetings, bookkeeping, scheduling, etc. Tuesdays and Thursdays are for production like printing, post-production, designing, shipping, etc. Fridays are for loose ends if need be – otherwise it’s Funday Friday! 🙂 My timeline is much more detailed based on the needs of my business, but you get the idea. Sticking to these parameters will also help me to have the structure that my mind needs to work productively.

Do you have a schedule that you use to stay productive?
