Changes

The past few weeks have been…what’s the right word for it…different. It hasn”t been bad, actually things are going pretty well lately. And I”m so grateful.

Normally, I”ll find myself in a slump and need change to spice things up a bit. I”ll get a drastic hair cut, I”ll color my hair, I”ll change the way I dress..those were big enough changes at times. Other times I”ll change jobs, rearrange my office or living room, or

But lately, I”ve been sensing a shift in a lot of aspects in my life. And it”s not voluntary. I”m not yet ready to really dive into those things yet, partially because I don”t really know how to put into words what”s really been going on in my head. All I know is that change is happening within me, and as scary as it may be to have to change I”m actually kinda ready for it.

Design 101 – Illustrator vs. Photoshop

When it comes to graphic design. Illustrator and Photoshop have their own pros and cons. I use these 2 programs simultaneously day in and day out.

When I first started in design school I have to admit – I had no idea how to use Photoshop. And I hated that I had to learn how to use it. But I soon realized how to use it efficiently and saw that as a designer I needed it. I use Photoshop mainly for editing photos, but also for resizing, web layouts, among other things.

Illustrator was the first program I learned. I learned how to navigate it and use it on my own. I still, to this day, love Illustrator for various reasons. Illustrator is great for logo creation, to create patterns and shapes, setting up type and designing typography, designing stationery and invitations, etc.

Like I said, I use these 2 programs ALL DAY, practically every day. Throughout the years, the cross-compatibility between programs have gotten so much better. It’s been great to see how much has changed in the past 10+ years in the design world, and I can’t wait to see how much further the design community will push the bar.

Oh Kissa…

My dearest Ray,

I’ve been thinking about you so much lately. I keep having this urge to call you on my way to and from a place. We always had the best conversations in the car. I don’t know if it’s me fishing for things that remind me of you or if you’re showing me that you’re around, but your presence just makes me miss you more. Things are changing. So much is different from how it used to be since you left. Things are more complicated, life is still moving forward, and as the days go by I can’t decide if it’s good or bad. It’s just changed.

I wish I could just call you and tell you what’s going on. I wish I could hear your voice, your classic Ray Ray laugh, and you say “Oh Kissa…” right before you tell me it’s going to be okay. You always knew what to say to make me feel better. And if you didn’t know what to say you’d always do something to make me laugh.

Lookatchu, rockin the pinky flex. 🙂 I love that face you make whenever you drink girly cocktails. I miss you, Raymundo.
