Pinterest Posting Drama

Who knew it would be such a pain in the ass to post pins on my blog?!
I literally spent hours on Friday trying to figure out how to share 3 pins on my Weekend Faves post. HOURS! Are you kidding me? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
After scouring the Internet for the answer I couldn’t find 1 helpful post. You’d figure WordPress Support would be helpful – NO. I scoured other blogs for the answer but I couldn’t find anything relevant since most of the posts were 2015 and prior. What the fudge?!
SO. For those of you like me that are trying to figure out how to post Pinterest pins or Pinterest boards on your site here’s what you do. First thing’s first…
Important: Whether you want to post a pin or an entire Pinterest board you need to copy and paste Pinterest’s “pinit.js” code into your “header.php” file in WordPress. If you don’t do this, none of the following steps will work!
Where do you find this code you ask? You’ll find it by clicking on the 3 dots on your Pinterest profile page. From there, click on “Make a Widget.”

At the bottom you’ll see the code.

Copy that code and then go into your WordPress Blog (in another tab or window). Go to Appearance > Editor. Click on Header. At the bottom before the “</header>” tag paste your “pinit.js” code.

Hit Update File and you’re ready to pin and share! Woot woot!

Now, onto embedding a pin…

To embed a pin onto your post.

1. Click on the pin you want to share and click on the 3 dots. Click on “embed.”

2. This will take you to the Widget Builder. You can customize your pin settings here. Once you get your pin to the size you want copy the code.

3. Go back to your WordPress post or page you’d like to post the pin in and click the Text editor (vs Visual). Paste the code where you’d like it to appear.

4. Hit publish/update and voila!

PHEW!
TBH, I’m appalled by how difficult it is to do this. *tsk tsk* Pinterest and WordPress. Making us jump through hoops to share pins. PSHAW! If you don’t have any coding experience it’s pretty difficult to know what to do without being worried you’re going to F something up. But there you go! Hope this helps you guys and happy pin sharing!

Weekend Faves No. 1

Since Charlie and I run a restaurant we have a weird work week. We personally love it since places are generally less crowded on Mondays. 🙂

Nevertheless, I can’t help but be excited about the weekends. We’re going to be attending a friend’s birthday party this weekend. The weather is expected to be pretty nice so we’ll be out eating some good food, drinking cocktails, and take a lap or 2 in the pool. We’ll see!
That being said here are some fun things we plan on including in our weekend!
 1. Cocktails
Here’s a yummy Moscato Strawberry Lemonade I found on Pinterest

2. Tacos
Our friend is having a taco guy come and cook us some amazing food! If you don’t want to spend on getting it catered here’s a great idea to create your own DIY taco bar for your next party. Just use a couple slow cookers, put your sides on ice, and voila!

3. Pool Floaties
A pool party isn’t complete unless you have some fun floaties!

Have a great weekend loves!

Using Evernote to Get Organized

So I had an organizational epiphany yesterday haha! I decided that I would jump on the Evernote game and see what this is all about.

TBH, I try to be organized but it’s hard to stay on top of everything while I run 2 businesses, keep my household in tact, and trying to work on my fitness. From marketing, accounting, sales, customer service, food logging, cleaning, laundry, meal prep…the list goes on and on when it comes to the responsibilities of a small business owner and person on-the-go. I’ve tried numerous methods to keep me organized but nothing has really seemed to work.

I’ve tried the “tried and true” method of writing things down. This works well when I’m at my desk either at the restaurant or at my home office, but my life is always on-the-go and I get a lot of my “AH-HA!” Moments while driving, at the gym, talking with friends, etc.
I’ve also tried using the Apple Notes and Reminders app, but the syncing functionality isn’t as quick as I thought it would be between all my devices as well as Charlie’s. There were numerous times I would list things in my grocery list on Reminders and even 24 hours later Charlie and I still couldn’t see it on our phones.
I know, first world problems right?!

So here we are back to Evernote. I’ve tried using it before but never really got the hang of it. But yesterday I made a decision to really try to give it a chance for a year and see how it works. It will obviously take some time for me to adjust to a new routine and method of staying organized but I have a good feeling that this might be the thing I’ve been looking for.
I’ve set up my notebooks as you can see above. I downloaded a calendar from Evernote’s Blog site to help me with post ideas and scheduling. Once a get a workflow that works for me I’ll be sure to share it with you all. Wish me luck!

What do you do to stay on top of all your tasks, events, ideas, etc? Share with me in the comments below. 🙂
