Christmas Recap – Was I Naughty or Nice This Year?

So Christmas just came and went am I right?

Our Christmas this year was a bit crazy seeing as we were traveling on Christmas Eve. We went to Vegas this year with some family and to also visit my family for the holiday. I wanted to try to see everyone this year hoping that it would make up for some loneliness I’ve been trying not to feel this year.

Immediately after our flight back home we went home, dropped our stuff off at home, and went straight to my aunt’s house for her annual Christmas Eve party. We ate more good food, played Cards Against Humanity, and watched the younger cousins perform and share their talents (a Christmas tradition that started when I was probably 10 years old. I’m so glad I don’t have to do it anymore hahaha).

On Christmas Day we had the opportunity to rest a little bit before having Charlie’s family over for dinner. We had quite the spread of food for just he 8 of us but everything was delicious. We had a house full of Ortega’s and 4 fur babies so needless to say it was good times.

As far as gift giving goes, Charlie and I went all out on each other’s gifts this year. I got him a 6-piece knife set by Global and a knife roll bag with his initials stitched on it. But Charlie won by a landslide. He bought me an iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard to match. *Drool* It’s perfect for sketching and is so easy to transport instead of my laptop. Say hello to my new toy!

Apparently, I was nice this year. I’ve been blessed with all the gifts above, amazing family. Yeah, that get me. 🙂 I am extremely grateful for all the people that made this Christmas a good one for me. Hope you had a great Christmas too!

Top 3 Holiday Party Must Haves

We’re hosting our annual Christmas party with our friends after the holidays again this year and I love doing it. As the years go by we see less and less of our friends simply because life gets in the way. But we all remember that at the very least, we hope to be together during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you’re hosting Christmas this year here are my top 3 must haves:

1. Christmas decor. Inside and out people! 🙂 Help your guests get in the Christmas spirit by decking your halls with festive decorations. I know the thing that warms my heart this time of year is seeing all the lights and decorations. I always look on Pinterest for inspiration and budget friendly decor that I can make myself like this Coffee Filter Wreath by Lilluna. I got so many compliments on this bad boy, and it cost me less than $10!

2. Christmas music. Have a Spotify account? Make a playlist of your favorite Christmas jams that fits the mood of your party. Have a Pandora account? Start curating your “Pentatonix Holiday” radio station well before your party. Hit thumbs up on those songs that you know will get your guests singing along. Add artists to your station to get more variety. The last thing you want is the wrong song playing that kills the mood. For me, my favorite Christmas album is Home for Christmas by *NSYNC.

3. A menu centerpiece. During Thanksgiving the main attraction is the turkey. For Christmas, the main attraction at our parties is the beef roast. Pick one or 2 dishes that set the theme for your party. This Christmas, ours is a roast beef and ham!
