Pinterest Posting Drama

Who knew it would be such a pain in the ass to post pins on my blog?!
I literally spent hours on Friday trying to figure out how to share 3 pins on my Weekend Faves post. HOURS! Are you kidding me? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
After scouring the Internet for the answer I couldn’t find 1 helpful post. You’d figure WordPress Support would be helpful – NO. I scoured other blogs for the answer but I couldn’t find anything relevant since most of the posts were 2015 and prior. What the fudge?!
SO. For those of you like me that are trying to figure out how to post Pinterest pins or Pinterest boards on your site here’s what you do. First thing’s first…
Important: Whether you want to post a pin or an entire Pinterest board you need to copy and paste Pinterest’s “pinit.js” code into your “header.php” file in WordPress. If you don’t do this, none of the following steps will work!
Where do you find this code you ask? You’ll find it by clicking on the 3 dots on your Pinterest profile page. From there, click on “Make a Widget.”

At the bottom you’ll see the code.

Copy that code and then go into your WordPress Blog (in another tab or window). Go to Appearance > Editor. Click on Header. At the bottom before the “</header>” tag paste your “pinit.js” code.

Hit Update File and you’re ready to pin and share! Woot woot!

Now, onto embedding a pin…

To embed a pin onto your post.

1. Click on the pin you want to share and click on the 3 dots. Click on “embed.”

2. This will take you to the Widget Builder. You can customize your pin settings here. Once you get your pin to the size you want copy the code.

3. Go back to your WordPress post or page you’d like to post the pin in and click the Text editor (vs Visual). Paste the code where you’d like it to appear.

4. Hit publish/update and voila!

PHEW!
TBH, I’m appalled by how difficult it is to do this. *tsk tsk* Pinterest and WordPress. Making us jump through hoops to share pins. PSHAW! If you don’t have any coding experience it’s pretty difficult to know what to do without being worried you’re going to F something up. But there you go! Hope this helps you guys and happy pin sharing!
Xoxo,
