Dandelion Anniversary Invitations

I had the pleasure of designing my new in-laws’ anniversary invites a few weeks ago. I love anniversaries! It celebrates a lifetime of love, something that I look forward to celebrating with Charlie.

For the design, we wanted to give it a playful feel with a vintage elegance. So we went with a whimsy design with a focus on bold color. We went with a soft hue of gray and yellow and a left alignment to balance the dandelion artwork.

My favorite part: the paper. The linen card stock give the full bleed design amazing texture and accentuated the vintage feel.

Today is very exciting for me. It’s my first time sharing with all my readers the cakes that Charlie and I do. Those that know me knows that my family owns a local bakery in Granada Hills called Ninong’s Pastries & Cafe. I’ve been around Filipino baking and cooking my entire life because of them. Lucky me! In October of 2008, after a long story of money wasted, we opened Ninong’s for the first time. And to be honest, we had no idea what we were in for. But, it has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my life.

We’ve done many cakes before, which you can find on the Ninong’s Facebook and Tumblr Blog. But It’s such a big part of out lives that I just feel like I need to share it here. So today, I’m going to share an adorable cake we did for a 1st birthday.

Jayden’s mom and dad (awesome parents!) came in on a busy, busy weekend. So busy I couldn’t even remember if it was Saturday or Sunday. They came in and said, we want a Cars cake and after talking with them about what they wanted I immediately said SURE! They came in to visit the day before their 10 am pick up and saw us working on the cake and they made us even MORE excited to get this cake done for their cutie patootie!

They went with our popular red velvet with cream cheese filling and requested to add some fresh strawberries.

Here’s my favorite little guy 🙂
